The Happy Prince and The Nightingale and the Rose

The eyes of the Happy prince are full of tears, and tears are running down his golden cheeks. His face is so beautiful in the moonlight that the little Swallow feels sad. (In The Happy Prince, p.14)

And the Rose tree says to the Nightingale: "Come closer to the thorn, little Nightingale and make the heart of your rose red."
So the Nightingale comes closer to the thorn. The thorn touches her heart, and she feels a sharp pain. And the heart of the rose becomes red like a ruby, and the petals are red like the evening sky. (In The Nightingale and the Rose, p.56)

In The Happy Prince, there is the statue of the Happy Prince, and it has a soul. He is very sad because his people live in poverty. Then, there is a little swallow, and he tries to help the prince. The prince give people his jewel. Can the prince and the little swallow help them?

In The Nightingale and the Rose, the bird, Nightingale want to help a young man, who loves a girl. The girl wants a red rose, but there is not it. The man is in trouble. Then, the Nightingale gives his heart to the rose to help him.

I think that The Happy Prince is a happy story, but the Nightingale and the Rose is a sad story. I was very sad to read this story, the Nightingale and the Rose, because the Nightingale was not rewarded. It is my first time to read the book of Oscar Wilde, and I want to read other stories of him.

The Spider and the Beehive

The spider was ready for the next treat. But when he tried to climb out of the hive, he was stuck. His had become too big! "Help! Get me out!" he cried. Once upon a time, there was a small village and a little boy and a tricky spider are in it. The boy was good at finding the biggest and sweetest fruit in the village. Then, the tricky spider suggested going to jungle and getting some fruits with the boy. The boy and the spider went into the jungle, but the spider had fruits all to himself, and then he gained weight, so when he ate up all the sweet honey into a beehive, he could not get out of it! Bread and jam for Frances

Frances sang a little sad song: What I am Is tired of jam. (p.39) Frances is a fussy eater. She won't touch her soft-boiled egg. She trades away her sandwich at lunch. All she eats is bread and jam! But in the end of story, she is tired of jam. Although I like jam too, I will be tired if I eat it everyday. The scene where Frances cried because she didn't want to eat jam was very moving.
