"I miss her so!" Faith said between sobs. At last Faith dried her eyes and reached for the ragbag. "I will sew a pine tree patch for Josefina," she said. (p.58-59) Faith's pa says there's no room for her pet, Josefina. Josefina is a chicken and is too old to lay eggs and too tough to eat. But Faith tries to take Josefina, and then her pa accepts it. In the end of the story, Josefina can make everyone happy. After I read this book, I was moved by Josefina's action. Faith's pa and ma thought that Josefina couldn't lay eggs, but she can lay a beautiful egg. Although Josefina passed away, she will continue to live on in Faith's heart, I think.
